What Your First Session Actually Looks Like

Nervous about your first training session? Here's exactly what to expect (spoiler: no burpees on day one).

We Chat First (20 minutes)

Before we do anything physical, we sit down and talk. I want to understand your health history, any injuries or concerns, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping to achieve. This isn't a test—it's a conversation.

Gentle Movement Assessment (15 minutes)

I'll guide you through some basic movements (like sitting, standing, reaching) to see how your body moves naturally. This isn't about performance—it helps me design exercises that work FOR your body, not against it.

Your First Mini-Workout (20 minutes)

We'll do a gentle, introductory workout together. I'll teach you 4-5 foundational exercises with perfect form. You'll leave feeling accomplished—not destroyed. The goal is to build confidence, not leave you unable to walk tomorrow.

Plan Your Journey (5 minutes)

We'll map out your next few sessions and set realistic short-term goals. I'll also give you homework (usually just one simple thing to practice) so you feel involved between sessions.

Total time: About 60 minutes. You'll leave feeling informed, not exhausted. And yes, you can ask to stop anytime if something doesn't feel right.

Common Concerns (And Honest Answers)

Here's what every beginner wonders—but doesn't always ask.

"I'm really out of shape. Will I be able to keep up?"

There's no "keeping up" in 1-on-1 training. We design every session around YOUR current fitness level. If you need to take breaks, we take breaks. If an exercise feels too hard, we modify it. You set the pace—I just guide you.

"I'm embarrassed about my current fitness level."

I've trained 200+ clients over 15 years. Trust me—everyone starts somewhere, and I've seen it all. My job is to help you improve, not judge where you're starting from. The fact that you're here means you're already ahead of 90% of people still thinking about it.

"What if I can't do certain exercises?"

Then we don't do them. Simple as that. Every exercise has modifications or alternatives. Bad knees? We'll work around them. Can't get down on the floor? We'll train standing up. Fitness isn't one-size-fits-all, and I don't believe in forcing exercises that don't work for your body.

"How long until I see results?"

Most beginners notice they feel stronger and more energetic within 2-3 weeks. Visible physical changes typically start around 6-8 weeks with consistent training (2-3 sessions per week). But here's the truth: sustainable results come from building habits, not quick fixes.

"What if I don't have any equipment?"

Not a problem. I bring everything we need—dumbbells, resistance bands, TRX straps, mats, the works. You just need comfortable clothes and a bit of space (a living room or garden works perfectly).

"I've tried exercise before and always quit. What's different this time?"

Because you're not doing this alone anymore. The #1 reason people quit is lack of accountability and unrealistic expectations. With a trainer, you have someone checking in, adjusting when life gets busy, and celebrating your progress.
